ALL ABOUT

The Sweet Leis Co.

Founded by Tiffany Bacon

Born in O‘ahu. Raised in the Philippines. Rooted in tradition, celebration, and love, with ribbon on the kitchen table.

The first lei I ever made was for my son’s elementary school graduation in 2012. A humble little ribbon lei, uneven, imperfect, but full of love. I didn’t know then that it would turn into something much bigger.

Since that day, I’ve made leis for graduations, birthdays, baby showers, weddings, retirements, and “just because” days. I’ve never been able to say no because when someone you love is being celebrated, you show up with a lei. And if you're Filipino? That lei better be extra.

I was born on the island of O‘ahu and raised in the Philippines, where celebrations are full of life  with music, food, and everything just a little (or a lot) over the top. In my teen years, I moved back to O‘ahu and eventually settled in California, where I met my husband and built a career in technical sales in Silicon Valley.

But lei-making became my creative outlet. I don’t work in a fancy studio. I work from my kitchen table, surrounded by ribbon spools, custom charms, and the occasional cup of cold coffee. It's messy. It’s meaningful. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

So why “The Sweet Leis Co.”?

The word “sweet” is a tribute to my dad, Emilio, lovingly known by many as “Sweet Bacon.” He was one of those joyful, magnetic people who lit up every room. Always smiling. Always kind. Always extra.

When I first talked about starting a business, I knew the name had to include the word "sweet," to carry him with me. Believe it or not, this didn’t start as a lei business. It started as a cake idea! My sisters Dawn and Sandy and I dreamed up a bakery concept and called it The Sweet Dots Co. It was cute, playful, and of course, a nod to our dad.

That cake business never fully took off, but the name stuck in my heart. So when this little ribbon lei hobby turned into something more, I knew exactly what to call it.

The Sweet Leis Co. was born. A brand rooted in love, family, and celebration.

Every ribbon lei is handcrafted with care, whether it’s a custom order I create here at home or a ribbon lei crafted by a talented ribbon lei artisan in Hawai‘i. This business is my way of honoring people, the ones we love, the milestones we mark, and the beautiful cultures that shaped me.

If you’re here, thank you. You’re part of the story now.
You’re part of the lei.

All my love,
Tiffany 🌸
